i have an energy plan. i have had it out for over a year now. that energy plan is all of the above. we realize that we have an abundance of natural resources here in our state and here in our country, and i believe that they need to be managed, and they need to be managed responsibly. we need to drill for oil. we need to drill for oil on federal lands, off shore, and we need to look at oil shale. we need to look at clean cole -- coal. the united states has a huge amount of coal. here in nebraska we understand the importance of those coal- fired electric plants. that helps us keep our energy rates low for consumers, and low for businesses as well. the governor can tell you when he talks to businesses and trying to attract them to our state, those electric costs have a big part to play in that to attract those businesses to come here. so we need to consider that. we need to look at renewables. we need to look at wind. we need to look at solar. we have ethanol, which is a great boone for this state. but you have to have a balanced perspective in order to move forward. with regards to c

ideology of hugo chavez and the castro brothers and deepen ties with the united states through trade and energy insecurity. in all these places, just as in the middle east, the question is asked, where does america stand? i know many americans are asking a different question -- why us? i know many americans are asking whether our country today, with our ailing economy and massive debt and 11 years of war, is still capable of leading. i believe that if america doesn't lead, others will. others who don't share our interests and our values, and the world would grow darker for our friends and for us. america's security and the cause of freedom cannot afford four more years like the last four years. i believe america has the duty to our citizens and friends everywhere to use our influence wisely, with solemnity, and without false pride, but also firmly and actively, to shape events in ways that secure our interests, for our values, prevent conflict, and make the world better -- not perfect, but better. our friends and allies across the globe to not want less american leadership. they want more. more

i mentioned earlier and i had to get rushed through it, energy and how energy resources and our country can allow us to have a more secure country, less vulnerable to outside forces but if we unleash energy resources from virginia to the gulf to appalachians to rockies to barren north slope of alaska, there would be literally hundreds of thousands of jobs created and over a trillion dollars of revenues coming to the government without raising taxes. only thing missing is the political will to unleash resources and i aim to provide leadership. >> bill, the question was about sequester and i did not hear any specifics from george how to deal with it other then we should appeal the affordable care act, which the seat -- the c.v.o. said will increase, not reduce, the deficit and put us right back into the mix of a partisan battle we've been having the last three years. we have to do fiscally responsible thing and find a compromise. here's a come compromise, here's how we can deal with sequester problem. instead of cutting a billion out of defense and nondefense, do three things. let the bus

[applause] but the bottom line is his underlying philosophy is the top-down economics that we've seen before. he thinks that if we just spend another $5 trillion on tax cuts that yes, skewed toward the wealthiest, if we get rid of more regulations on wall street, then our problems will be solved. jobs and prosperity will rain down from the sky. the deficits will magically disappear. we will live happily ever after.
